Spaces, dormitories and hospitality
The hut offers two dormitories with bunk beds and two bathrooms with hot showers; an indoor dining room, and tables in the garden for fine weather.
Upper Val Codera · Novate Mezzola · Hosted by Marisa
A mountain hut between Valchiavenna and Valtellina, a base in Val Codera for high routes like the Sentiero Roma and the Sentiero Alpino Bregaglia. A starting point for Badile, Cengalo and Ligoncio.
Val Codera has no vehicle roads: the hut is reached on foot. A helicopter service from Novate Mezzola is also available by arrangement. Mobile signal is weak too: it's time to unplug and enjoy the silence and the company.
The hut offers two dormitories with bunk beds and two bathrooms with hot showers; an indoor dining room, and tables in the garden for fine weather.
A long, sustained hike on mule track, stone steps and valley paths, passing through the village of Codera.
The updated calendar loads here. Always contact the hut to confirm beds and dates.
Our family has loved the mountains for generations and grew up respecting this beautiful, demanding environment.
Rifugio Bresciadega began in 1986, when Tarcisio Nonini bought a cowshed at the entrance to the hamlet and transformed it into a place of food and fellowship.
The family's work transformed the cowshed into a hut with dining rooms, dormitories and outdoor eating spaces.
Over the years many walkers became regular guests, drawn back to shared tables and daily life in Bresciadega.
At Rifugio Bresciadega you'll find pizzoccheri, spätzle and Chiavenna gnocchetti, porcini risotto, chanterelle tagliatelle, polenta, stew, cakes, fruit tarts, plus homemade liqueurs and grappas.
Garden vegetables and eggs, milk, butter and cheese from cattle grazing at Bresciadega make zero-kilometre food literal. Dishes and ingredients vary with availability.
